Abernathy Income Tax has been providing excellent income tax service since approximately 1967. The business was established in Catawba, NC by the late Grady Abernathy and has been owned and operated by his daughter, Karen Abernathy Ester since 1998. The business is located at 100 N Main Street in Catawba.
2022 is the start of Karen’s 25th year in business! As always, Karen remains committed to her clients, continuing education and the business of offering exceptional service. Karen continues to participate in the Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP). The AFSP was established by Internal Revenue as a voluntary program for tax preparers. It aims to recognize the efforts of non-credentialed return preparers who aspire to a higher level of professionalism. Karen continues to receive education from the National Association of Tax Professionals, the Internal Revenue Service and the National Center for Professional Education (NCPE) and various other IRS approved education training facilities.
Currently, Karen is serving on the NC National Board of Directors for the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP). The NATP provides support, education and research services to United States tax professionals. Members of the NATP work at offices that assist over 11 million taxpayers with tax preparation and planning. The average NATP member has been in the tax business for over 20 years and hold a tax/financial designation and/or college degree. NATP has more than 20,000 members nationwide. Members include individual tax preparers, enrolled agents, certified public accountants, attorneys and financial planners.
